Well there is a lot to be said for being named after a prickly plant. I am used as a traditional christmas decoration, as an ornamental plant in parks and gardens, to make chess pieces, to make tea and also looms for weaving. Holly used to be associated with thunder gods such as Thor and Taranis and there are a whole lot of other fun facts. I even have a society that is dedicated to me! The Holly Society of America.

Anyhow, I intend to use this blog to discuss things that I find interesting and thought provoking. Only time will tell what we will get into......
